Cervical cancer develops when abnormal cells within the cervix start growing uncontrollably. The culprit? This quick and painless test checks for abnormal cells on the cervix. Regular Pap smears, as recommended by your doctor, are the first line of defense in detecting precancerous changes before they progress to cancer.<\/p>\n<h2 data-sourcepos=\"22:1-22:25\"><strong>Diagnosing the Issue:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"24:1-24:151\">If your Pap smear shows unusual cells, don&#8217;t panic! It doesn&#8217;t automatically mean you have cancer. Further tests may be recommended, such as:<\/p>\n<ul data-sourcepos=\"26:1-28:0\">\n<li data-sourcepos=\"26:1-26:83\"><strong>Colposcopy:<\/strong> A magnified examination of the cervix using a special instrument.<\/li>\n<li data-sourcepos=\"27:1-28:0\"><strong>Biopsy:<\/strong> Removing a small tissue sample for laboratory analysis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"29:1-29:97\">Depending on the test results, your doctor will suggest the most appropriate course of treatment.<\/p>\n<h2 data-sourcepos=\"31:1-31:22\"><strong>Treatment Options:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"33:1-33:175\">The good news? Thanks to advancements in medicine, cervical cancer has a high cure rate when diagnosed early.
