Founded and led by the Black Mamas Matter Alliance (BMMA), this week-long campaign amplifies the voices, perspectives, and lived experiences of Black mothers and birthing people.\u00a0<\/span>As we commemorate BMHW, Avenue 360 Health + Wellness joins hands with global organizations to mark International Day for Maternal Health and Rights, advocating for the elimination of maternal mortality worldwide.<\/span><\/p>\n Dr. Charlene Flash, CEO of Avenue 360 Health + Wellness, passionately asserts, \u201cOur Bodies STILL Belong to Us: Reproductive Justice NOW! Black Maternal Health Week is a powerful platform that celebrates and advocates for the well-being of Black women. We are proud to recognize the efforts of BMMA and others across the country, who simply want safe and equitable healthcare services for Black women and birthing people.\u00bb<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n As a community health center, we recognize that the journey of motherhood is sacred, yet it is fraught with disparities. Black women and birthing individuals face a disproportionate burden of adverse maternal and birth outcomes. The statistics are stark: maternal mortality rates for Black women are alarmingly high, and the gaps in access to quality care persist.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n This year\u2019s BMHW theme, \u201cOur Bodies STILL Belong to Us: Reproductive Justice NOW! resonates deeply within the clinic walls of our six clinics. We witness firsthand the barriers that exacerbate existing health disparities, particularly for Black mothers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n It is time to improve access across geographies and birth settings. It is time to issue guidance to healthcare providers, institutions, and insurance companies, ensuring equitable, patient-centered care. And it is time to fund research and programs that center the scholarship of Black women and birthing people.<\/span><\/p>\n Our commitment to health equity for Black mothers and birthing people is unwavering. We call upon policymakers, healthcare institutions, and communities to dismantle barriers, uplift voices, and create a future where Black mothers thrive.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The doors of our clinics will continue to be open, ready to embrace every life that enters.
